How to track a return until the refund arrives

Dropping off the package feels like completion. Financially, the loop is still open until the expected money reaches the payment method.

A return has more than one finish line

  1. Return plannedYou decided, but the item is still with you.
  2. Dropped off or sentThe carrier or merchant has the item.
  3. Refund pendingA refund is expected but has not reached the payment method.
  4. Refund receivedYou confirmed the amount that actually arrived.

Record evidence without creating a privacy problem

You may need a carrier receipt, merchant confirmation, or support reference for your own records. KeepCheck 1.0 deliberately does not scan receipts or upload attachments. Record a concise note in the app and store sensitive documents in a system you already trust.

Track the expected and received amounts separately

Shipping fees, restocking rules, bundled discounts, taxes, and partial acceptance can change the final amount. Keep the original purchase amount, expected refund, and confirmed refund distinct. Do not silently treat “return accepted” as “full refund received.”

When purchases use different currencies, review them separately rather than inventing an exchange rate.

Follow up from the merchant’s stated timeline

Use the merchant or payment provider’s current estimate as your reference. If that period passes, follow the merchant’s official support process and keep your own proof of return. KeepCheck can remind you to check; it does not contact the merchant, move money, or guarantee a refund.
